Mark your calendars for the Matariki Arrowtown Lights on Friday 14th July.

Join the festivities as the Arrowtown community come together to honour those who have passed since the last rising of Matariki; celebrate and give thanks for the present and look positively toward the future.

The heart of Arrowtown (Ka-Muriwai) will illuminate with a stunning display of light and visual storytelling, in honour of the Aotearoa heritage and the welcoming of a new year.

Along Buckingham Street, captivating visual narratives will be projected for a nominal gold-coin donation. All ages are welcome to enjoy the magnificent event until 10pm.

Throughout the night you and your family can enjoy various performances including a karakia, enchanting melodies by the Waiatatia group Ngā Manu Hou and captivating acts by local kapa haka primary and high schools.

A true highlight of the event will be the presence of Professor Brian Boyle, a renowned astrophysicist, who will share the wonders of the Otago night skies.

With an array of delicious food options and cozy fire pits to gather and share stories, this is an event you truly don’t want to miss.
