As the temperatures drop and the Remarkables start fluttering with their snowy season look, it’s time to dust off the winter gear and get ready for the magic that comes with living at Hanley’s Farm during Queenstown’s coldest months.

One of the best things about being here? You don’t have to go far to enjoy some of the best snow conditions. Whether you’re into full-throttle adventure or relaxed family fun, here are some of our favourite snow activities just a stone’s throw from home.

  1. Hit the Slopes at The Remarkables

Let’s start with the obvious one. Living at Hanley’s Farm means you’re just a short drive away from one of the best ski fields in the country. The Remarkables offers slopes for every skill level, whether you’re carving up black runs or just trying to stay upright on skis for the first time.

  1. Coronet Peak – Night Skiing, Anyone?

Also nearby is Coronet Peak, which adds a little extra winter magic with its night skiing. There’s something amazing about watching the sun go down, the lights coming on, and the snow sparkling under the stars. Great for families, groups, or date nights with a twist.

  1. Tobogganing & Snow Play at Snow Farm

Don’t feel like skiing? No problem! Snow Farm, about an hour’s drive away in Cardrona, is a perfect spot for families who just want to play around in the snow. Tobogganing, snowball fights, snowshoeing. It’s the kind of day out where everyone ends up with rosy cheeks and a hot chocolate.

  1. Build a Snowman (Or a Snow Fortress)

Sometimes the best snow days are the simple ones. When the snowfall reaches lower levels, the fields and green spaces around Hanley’s Farm become prime for snowmen, snow angels, and mini snowball skirmishes. Keep it spontaneous, all you need is a beanie, gloves, and some imagination.

  1. Scenic Gondola & Luge (With Winter Views)

Okay, technically not a snow activity, but the Queenstown Skyline gondola ride and luge track are just as fun in winter. The views from the top are breathtaking this time of year, and there’s something special about zipping down the luge with snow-capped mountains all around you.

Winter at Hanley’s Farm is more than just colder days, it’s a whole new way of living. From powder days to cosy café stops, and everything in between, there’s always something happening just beyond your doorstep.

So, layer up, get out there, and enjoy the snow season, it’s one of the best parts of calling this place home!
